Helping San Diego Make Decisions on Land Use-Related Issues

You've come to the right place for information about planning related decision making bodies for the City.

Planning Commission

An officially recognized City commission that recommends changes in the city's General Plan and community plans; makes recommendations on the Capital Improvements Budget, rezoning and related land use matters; and has final approval on subdivisions as well as many permit types. Historical Resources Board

A 15 member body appointed by the City Council to administer the City's historical preservation program, designate historical sites, approve historical districts, and review development projects where the site contains designated resources. Read more about Historical Resources.

Community Forest Advisory Board

The City's award-winning Community Forest Advisory Board is charged with advising the Mayor on all policy issues relating to urban forestry. There are fourteen board members appointed by the Mayor and the City Council.
